Identifying the right sites and securing planning are two major challenges that exist when developing wind-based technology on land. Location is key and certain factors must be considered such as ground conditions, site access, natural heritage, wildlife, air-traffic and national defence. In addition, connection to the national grid can determine whether a project is commercially viable, as the cost of connection alone can be in some cases double the price of the turbine. Access Energy was set-up to control the process involved from site identification and planning through to grid connection and ultimately commissioning of the turbine; a fully turnkey solution that ensures not only cost control and speed through planning, but more importantly quality of site delivery.
Access Energy has built up a team of highly experienced in-house consultants with specialist disciplines ranging from architecture and quantity surveyors to landscape architects and project managers. With this resource we can commit to developing and funding sites ourselves for wind-turbine development, but we can also act on behalf of clients who wish to engage our services to help manage the process of planning, finance and turbine construction. In addition, through our investment model we are able to work with land-owners, portfolio managers and banks with ‘brownfield’ property portfolios and are able to increase value through turbine development. We are happy to enter into either a risk-share or lease-based agreements which will see a significant increase in the value of the site and more importantly, increase income and capital.
